Terms & License
Last updated: June 26, 2026
Chess Acuity is free and open-source software. These terms, together with the GNU General Public License v3, govern your use of the app.
1. License
Chess Acuity is licensed to you under the GNU General Public License, version 3 (GPLv3). You are free to use, study, share, and modify the software under the terms of that license. The complete source code is available at the project's GitHub repository.
Where the terms of Apple's standard licensed application agreement would conflict with the GPLv3, the GPLv3 governs your rights in the software to the extent permitted.
2. The Stockfish engine
Chess Acuity bundles the Stockfish chess engine, which is also distributed under the GPLv3. The corresponding source code, including any modifications, is available from the GitHub repository linked above, in compliance with the GPLv3.
3. No warranty
The app is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Engine evaluations are provided for study and may not always be correct or optimal.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from or in connection with the app or its use, as set out in the GPLv3.
5. Fair use and fair play
Chess Acuity is made for study and review. Please respect the fair-play rules of other chess sites and services, and do not use the app to gain assistance during live games. You are responsible for using the app lawfully and in line with the rules of any platform you play on.
6. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the “last updated” date above.
